Merry Christmas! I hope everyone has a wonderful day with families and friends.
“Santa came!” I whispered to my husband to get him motivated out of bed. We had a skype date with the family so we can all open presents together and we could not be late!
Homemade banana nut bread was made last night so we can have a nice sweet treat for breakfast. Coffee poured and the computer ringing to talk to the family. It was going to be a good morning.
The family spoiled us with boxes of presents sent in the mail so we could open presents from them as if we were home. It was fun watching my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law spoil my parents. They do so much for us it was nice to see them giddy like a little kid opening their presents. They were blown away.
I am so glad we got to all be together this morning. It was just like we were home with the chaos, the sleepy eyes and bed head, the laughter.
I am grateful for the thoughtful gifts from my husband. But most grateful we get to spend the holidays together! Not every family gets to be together for the holidays and in the beginning of our relationship we couldn’t always be together with hubby being in training.
Still to come are more Skype dates with the family which we are looking forward to! Later on we will be having a Christmas dinner at our friends house. So grateful to have a family here so we can spend the holidays with one another. It’s going to be a pretty funny time, we are supposed to be playing Watch Your Mouth. A game where you use mouth pieces (if you ever had to get braces think of those pieces) and say phrases and your team mates have to guess what you are trying to say. A very comical game.
Yes I have touched on the fun of opening presents this morning but at last night’s Christmas eve service the pastor announced after bringing all the kids up to sit in front of the stage that today is not about the presents but the reason for the season. Keep that in mind as well today.
Merry Christmas from me to yours!
